“You seek to become the strongest. And so the path you walk has led you to me. There are many arts, but there is only one Koppo. Defeat me, and we will speak of its secrets.”
—Seishi Moribe, pre-battle

Seishi Moribe is a character from the Present Day chapter, The Strongest. The rediscoverer of the lost techniques of koppo, he is one of the six masters faced by Masaru Takahara in his journey to become the world's greatest warrior.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Moribe wears a grayish-black Japanese gi top to bottom, with a a red belt tied around his waist. He has long grey hair and looks to be at least in his fifties or even older.

Personality[]

As a master of an ancient martial art, Seishi Moribe is a man of great focus and wisdom; his perfect execution of techniques once abandoned a testament to his knowledge. Reserved and cool-headed, he places a strong value on the traditional histories of martial arts.

History[]

Present Day: The Strongest[]

Seishi Moribe is a deadly practitioner of a storied art, mostly known for his bare-handed killing techniques. It is said his Celestial Palm technique, one he had personally rediscovered and perfected, can pierce the organs of a fully armored man without breaking the skin. Engaging Masaru on temple grounds, Moribe keeps the wrestler on his toes with his disorienting Fleetfoot, while his Palm proves just as fearsome as the rumors say. Upon defeat, Moribe admits that it is time for new blood to bring a new era to martial arts.

Soon after his fight with Masaru, Moribe is murdered in combat by Odie O'Bright, who sought to become the greatest warrior through the path of death. Calling upon Moribe's wisdom, Masaru fights O'Bright and strikes him down, avenging his death.

Strategy[]

Both of Moribe's learnable techniques are quite formidable. His reputed Celestial Palm can severely lower each of an opponent's stats, greatly softening up tough combatants. His Fleetfoot may force an opponent to waste a turn reorienting themselves, giving it an edge over similar techniques like Spiral Knee. It is encouraged to get Masaru's hands on these abilities as soon as possible.

On the battlefield, Moribe's greatest hurdle is his evasion. Capable of simply avoiding Masaru's most powerful moves, he can be quite a frustrating challenger. This is balanced out by his low HP, the lowest of all the masters at only 120, meaning he can be taken out with only a few lucky hits. To circumvent his evasion, Masaru may seek to attack Moribe from behind; from this position, Masaru's attacks will more easily connect. If debilitated by the Celestial Palm, Masaru may use Focus to restore some, but not all, of his stats.

Original[]

His high Level stat makes it quite tough for an attack to land, but as a counterbalance, he has very low HP, so once you're capable of using his own moves against him, you should have an easy time.

Remake[]

Moribe is given a weakness in Grappling techniques. As such, challenging Tula Han and Max Morgan first to learn their moves can give Masaru an advantage. Given Moribe's great evasion, however, landing these moves can still be a tricky endeavor.
